Am I pushing too hard?

Ten honest questions about the habits around your child's sport. No score, no verdict, and nobody sees the result but you.

Let me say this first: if you're on this page, you care. The parents I worry about are never the ones asking this question; they're the ones who never do. I ask my athletes' parents versions of these ten questions all the time. Not to catch anyone out, but because the habits around the sport, the car rides, the first question after training, whose idea the extra session was, shape a young athlete more than any programme I write. Answer for most weeks, not your worst week. Your answers stay on this page.

Your answers are never sent anywhere. They live in this browser tab and disappear when you close it.

Ten questions, three areas

There are no right answers here, only honest ones. Both ends of every question are things loving parents do.

  1. The drive home

The match went badly. What does the car usually sound like on the way home?
